The second wave of Covid-19 has hit India harder than before. With the rise of cases, we are all scared of the dreadful statistics of death rates and the low availability of vaccines. This has made the new old work from culture essential.

But with the distractions around the comfort of our home, it’s hard to concentrate, and thus comes our unwanted guest procrastination. In the current situation, it feels like a job to get out of bed let alone have the motivation to get any work done and we end up snoozing on our conference calls. But don’t worry, I have crafted the perfect solution for you, which will boost your productivity and beautify your home office/workspace.

1. Dedicated workspace:

While your bed sounds like the perfect workspace, trust me if you want to get any work done you have to have the authentic study table. Invest in a good desk and ergonomically designed chair and your back will thank you. No, balancing the laptop on your lap and coming up with innovative positions in bed isn’t going to help your body in the long run.

2. Declutter the space:

Support Messi by cheering for him on TV, don’t make your workspace messy. Clear out those obstructions on your desk and climb the ladder of success. Have proper storage like shelves, units, or even get some loose baskets to avoid cluttering the space again.

3. Proper lighting:

A well-lit space is just what you need in one of those long work sessions. If you can get natural light well and good, but if not buy a desk lamp, overhead profile light, wall scones, etc. It would boost your productivity by cutting down the strain on your eyes.

Bonus tip: Well lit space wouldn’t make you sleepy :)

4. Be closer to nature:

Decorate your workspace with some small planters to instantly get rid of your tiredness. Research shows green plants give you a good dose of Endorphin. Also do not stare at the screen too long, take breaks in between work to look out of the window at our mother nature (if you don’t live in a concrete jungle).

5. Aromatherapy:

Scented candles, diffusers, or room fresheners are proven to instantly boost up your mood. Did you know that certain fragrances like Peppermint prevent fatigue, Lavender essential oil can calm you down or Basil essential oil sharpens concentration. Plus it's always nice to have a pleasant aroma in your room.

6. Decorate the back wall:

Give life to those bare & boring walls with some amazing paintings, motivational quotes, self-made art, hang a soft board, pegboard, or whiteboard so that you can instantly jot down those amazing ideas and see your goals clearly. (Also it would be an amazing backdrop for your zoom calls to show off your creative skills)

7. Techno therapy:

Last but not the least, invest in some good technology like a Wifi booster, HD monitor, ergonomically designed keyboard or mouse, noise cancelation headphones, etc. to get you into the proper headspace and boost your productivity.

These were some tips to say goodbye to procrastination and hello to productivity. So which of the tips are you going to apply? What other tips do you know and use to boost your productivity? I would love to hear them. Comment below and let me know your thoughts, it would mean a lot to me.
