Types of headboard
Like the head of the family, Headboard serve the same authoritative and binding and purpose in Bedroom designing. Here are some types of headboards that I’ve curated together for you, which you can easily incorporate in your designs.
Headboards complete the design of the bed, add depth and style, providing a backrest to the bed. There are two types of headboard; attached to the wall as paneling or attached to the bed frame. These are further categorized into many types and designed using various materials. Some types of headboards are:
Wooden headboard: Wooden headboard instantly transforms the space giving it a classy look by blending both modern and classical design style. It adds a natural element to space and can be easily carved or shaped into different designs. Being easily available, this is the most preferred material making it more expensive than other materials.
- Upholstered or tufted headboard: Upholstered headboards are made in foam and covered in fabric/ rexine/ leather of choice, where one can choose between a variety of patterns, print, and colours. Providing maximum comfort it also adds a sense of elegance, style, and luxury to the space.
- Metal headboard: Metal headboards create a versatile look, right from Victorian or Baroque designs to modern four poster designs. Metal being cheaper than wood can provide a sturdy yet elegant look. Add a piece of fabric around the posters to give your bedroom a royal touch.
- Headboard with storage: Who said headboards only have to look good, they can also double up as additional storage space. If you don’t have space in the bedroom for a side table, you can design a headboard with dedicated space for books, pillows, bed sheets, or any additional things. Design shelves or niches showcasing your favorite knick-knacks in the headboard.
- Wall Paint: If you don’t want to spend a lot on the above materials and still want a designer look, I have a solution, just paint the wall behind in a contrasting shade. You can choose between a variety of paint stencils, textures, and designs, and with a few brush strokes transform the space, without giving your pocket a pinch.
- Large cushions: If you want to achieve a minimalist, zen, or boho look, just throw in a few large cushions on the bed and you’re good to go. Add in a few throw pillows of different colours and patterns to break the monotony and brighten up the space. You can go for a plain wall behind the bed and add tapestry or boho fringes for the picture-perfect bedroom.
Hope I have inspired you enough to redesign your bedroom using one of these designs. Liked it please leave a comment and let me know. And for more such content watch this space to stay updated.
