7 Essential Vastu tips for Main Entrance
The main entrance is the literal opening of the house, not only for people but also for Positive energy & hence it must be designed well. Here are some Do’s & Don’ts of Vastu Shastra to keep in mind while designing the Main Entrance/ Foyer.
Vastu Shastra literally means “The science of architecture”. Dating back to ancient times it is a guideline to bring positive energy into our home. It is believed that our homes have certain energy which we are influenced by & thus it’s important to understand how to enhance or rectify mistakes of our Vastu to bring positive energy, good health & prosperity into our lives.
The main entrance is the entry point of our homes for positive energy & hence it must be designed well. It should feel welcoming & have a good vibe. According to Vastu, North, East or North-East are the best directions for the Main entrance as they are considered auspicious. The next best option would be the South-East or North-West direction.
The main door should be made of Superior quality Wood & should open in a clockwise direction. You must have your name & possibly your flat number on the nameplate. Decorate your main entrance with torans, plants, rangoli & idols of God/ Goddesses for prosperity & good health.
While these are some common things that everyone knows, here are 7 Essential Vastu tips for Main Entrance which you might not know:
1. Big & Wide Main Door
The main entrance door should be the biggest opening of your entire house to attract maximum positive energy. The door size should at least be 3' wide by 7' in height. If it’s a single door (without a safety door) it should open inside the house.
2. Same side opening of the door
The Safety & Main door should open on the same side of the wall for a clear flow of energy. Make sure they open 90 degrees without any obstruction in the path.
3. Marble/ Wood Threshold
Your main entrance door should have a marble or wooden threshold (umbra patti) as it is believed they absorb the negative energy.
Pro tip: Opt for a double frame instead of a single frame for maximum impact.
4. Glass vase/ pot filled with Water or Plants
Place a glass vase/ pot filled with water, flowers, petals, or plants in the foyer or main entrance for prosperity & good health of the family.
5. Avoid shoe rack at the Entrance
Contrary to popular practice, shoe racks should not be kept in the Main Entrance/ Foyer as they attract negative vibes. Although it’s convenient to remove the shoes at the entrance & not bring them in the house, it should be avoided. Also, dustbins should not be placed near the main entrance.
Pro tip: Make sure there isn’t any broken furniture kept not only in the foyer but anywhere in the house.
6. Well-lit & clean environment
Your main entrance should be bright & well-lit during the evening as dark places attract negative energy. Cleanliness in the Main entrance/ Foyer attracts positive energy & prosperity.
7. Mirror Mirror but which wall?
Avoid placing the mirror directly opposite the main entrance as it will bounce back all the positive energy. You may place the mirror on the adjacent wall as shown in the picture.
